It’s been five years since Tonic closed its’ doors. We are marking the occasion by celebrating the ten years of outstanding performances with an awesome chock-full reunion concert at Le Poisson Rouge on May 9th.
Here is the fabulous roster:

Millennial Territory Orchestra starts a Monday Residency at The Stone running 13 weeks(!) from April through June here in NYC.
Open rehearsal starts at 7:30pm each night with one set at 9:00.
13 Mondays, 13 new arrangements, special guests…
At the end of the run these 13 arrangements will be recorded for the next MTO release “13 from the Stone”

Paste Magazine’s latest issue features a Winter Jazzfest summary and they say this about MTO:
One of the highlights of this year’s Winter Jazzfest in Manhattan’s West Village was Steven Bernstein’s Millennial Territory Orchestra playing the music of Sly and the Family Stone. The 11-member ensemble resembled a reduced version of a traditional jazz big band with three reeds, two brass and upright bass, and every tune began as a moody, abstracted instrumental. But each selection eventually morphed into one of Sly Stone’s classic funk numbers—“Stand,” “My Lady” or “Everyday People“—and as the band started stomping on the one, you saw something you rarely see at a jazz show outside New Orleans: young people dancing.

On Friday, October 7th, Steven celebrates the big five-oh with Sexmob joined by Roswell Rudd, John Medeski and Ben Perowsky at Hudson, NY’s Club Helsinki.
“This is a special night for me…the eve of my 50th birthday, playing with Sexmob and three of my favorite humans/musicians in a beautiful space for music.”

Paris and New York, get ready for a barrage of shows from MTO – and a brand new CD, too!
First, Paris: on September 11, MTO presents live scores to three Laurel & Hardy shorts and later that night, opens for Medeski Martin and Wood performing material from the brand new CD, MTO Plays Sly
The new MTO CD drops on September 27th, followed by the CD Release concert at 92Y|Tribeca on October 14th. The show is set to be broadcast by WBGO/NPR and is sure to sell out, so get your tickets now.
Then, on October 29th, MTO pulls out their Laurel & Hardy short film scores in support of the Jazz Foundation of America during their annual fundraising Loft Party. Help this amazing organization by grabbing a ticket or making a donation right here.
