SEXMOb

Sexmob (Steven Bernstein - slide trumpet, Briggan Krauss - saxophones, Tony Scherr - bass, Kenny Wollesen - drums) continues to deconstruct familiar pop tunes with subversive impunity.

MILLENNIAL TERRITORY ORCHESTRA

Tearing into witty and funky new arrangements of little-known Jazz nuggets from the 1920s and ‘30s, as well as radically transforming songs by artists such as Prince and the Beatles, Steven Bernstein (Grammy-nominated Composer/Sexmob Trumpeter) leads an improvisational nine-piece outfit playing irreverent 21st-century Jazz. The band is consistently praised for uniting sexy grooves spanning a century of music—from Don Redman to Sly Stone to the present—with Free Jazz Abandon.

Diaspora Series

Steven Bernstein’s Diaspora Series is a collective of recordings on John Zorn's Tzadik Label that takes traditional Jewish music and reworks it in a variety of contexts. From the Cuban and soul influenced Diaspora Soul (1999) to the blues-informed but never obviousDiaspora Blues (2002), and from the west coast cool of Diaspora Hollywood (2004) to the joyful freedom of Diaspora Suite (2008), Bernstein demonstrates that music is truly universal and can be molded and shaped an infinite number of ways to make it both timely and timeless.
